It’s Friday!

Hello!  Happy Friday!  How has your week been? I have been a bit housebound. This was the week when I had tradesmen filing in and out completing the renovations to our new kitchen.  On the downside this meant I missed the morning tea I had booked into with Melinda Harper at Heide (bit sad about that) but on the upside I now have a sink, stove and oven for the first time in three weeks! Phew! I was really struggling to come up with more electric frypan meals! And I have a pantry door that closes for the first time in fifteen years!

It’s always a bit weird having tradies in the house, isn’t it? I feel a bit awkward sitting there reading a book or crocheting.  But what else can you do when they’re toiling away in your workspace? I imagine them going home to their partners saying ‘ Should’ve seen this chick today.  All she did was fluff around reading, crocheting and flicking through the iPad!’

But I did manage to pop out for some dog walking and to do some Good Looking as Annette suggests.  Not that it’s too hard to see the Good at the moment.  Our streets are still rather bereft of leaves but the gardens are populated with purple, pink, red and white. So beautiful to see the magnolia blooms sitting on bare branches, and the camellias and rhododendrons splashing colour amongst their green leaves. It warms my heart, which is just as well, because it is still cold, cold cold!

Have you been indoors this week or been an out and about kinda person? I hope it’s been pleasurable either way.  What about your weekend? Any plans? I’m going to a Blog with Pip catch up on Sunday. Excited!

  1. Even though you missed your trip to Heide, it looks as though you’ve still had a lot of lovely things this week – your kitchen looks great, and those photos are beautiful. And I’m so glad I saw your site, as I am hoping to get to the exhibition too, so I should really lock in a time. Enjoy the catch-up too (I am hoping to get to one of those, at some stage, but this Sunday, we have the under 11 footy finals) x

  2. What a lovely post about your week, Carolyn. I love those photos of Melbourne and all the flowers coming out…but yes, still looks chilly! Funny about the tradies working away while you crochet and flick through the iPad. I agree, a bit weird, but whattcha gonna do? My parents are getting a new kitchen installed this month, the first time since I was born (31 years ago)! They have lived in their house for 41 years. I’ve had a very outdoorsy week in Japan, going off on hikes and to temples every day, but happy to be back in China now and having more quiet time. Plus I got a bit lonely towards the end so glad to be back with Steve. The weekend so far has involved starting a book about the Fairfax newspaper empire, doing the washing, watching The Killing Season online (bout the Rudd/Gillard years) and much lazing about. Have a happy Sunday, enjoy the Blog with Pip catch-up! x

  3. Just back from our BWP catch up – and it was lovely! Your beautiful photos were mentioned quite a few times! Your parents will notice a big difference with a new kitchen. We are loving our ours! We watched The Killing Season too. Both highly intelligent people with a vision but I don’t think either of them came out of it particularly well. Enjoy being back with your man and having a lovely laze around x

    1. I saw some pics of the BWP catch up on Facebook, what a great thing to do. Such a nice crew…looking forward to meeting some people in real life next year, I hope! I felt sad watching The Killing Season, actually. So much potential for good government squandered. Highly entertaining though. I’m chuffed my photos were mentioned, how exciting! x

  4. All those gorgeous flowers…swoon ( not to mention the lovely kitchen bench!). I still have never been to Heide, that exhibition looks right up my alley. Hope you have a lovely tradie free week! Lovely to catch up again yesterday. x
